If you have the original Curly CD you don't need a patch to play opponents with version 3099.

Port configuration To play VP3 online on Gamespy the following ports of you router / firewall have to be enabled:
Port range from 60876 to 60976
Single ports: 13139, 27900, 28900, 29900.

Why should I switch to VP3DL what has improved?

• VP3DL is the official version for playing in VPHQ Tournaments and other competitions on GameSpy.
• Several ways of cheating or disrupting games that were open in the old versions of VP3 have been removed.
• Known bugs and occasional crashes of the Curly CD version have been removed.
• With VP3DL we finally have a version that is open for further patches and improvements in game play and graphics.
• It wasn't possible to patch Jeanette's or the Curly CD version.
• If you own a VP3 CD you are eligible for a rebate.
